You will have a unique chance to travel in a soviet “Bukhanka” (loaf of bread in Russian) van around Moscow to see its landmarks. With such an iconic means of transport, you will have a journey into Russian history. After this three-hour road adventure, we will invite you to go underground to discover the hidden beauty of the city. You will end up at a local market to satisfy your hunger with Russian delicacies.

Go back in time by travelling in a famous soviet “Bukhanka” van though the streets of Moscow. You will also dive into the Moscow Metro to discover why it is often referred to as a museum. And finally, you will have a chance to taste Russian delicacies at a local market!
After meeting your guide and driver (provided by our partners, Put-in Tours) next to St. Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square, you will walk to the nearby modern Zaryadye Park. In this green island located in the heart of Moscow, you can get acquainted with the diversity of Russian nature as well as take a selfie on a boomerang bridge that offers a panoramic view of the Kremlin.
Next, you will jump aboard the “Bukhanka” van and ride to the Russian Academy of Science. As you look at its building rising above Moskva River, you will understand why it is called “The Golden Brain”.
From there, you will ride to another famous observation platform on Sparrow Hills. To stay your appetite, we will offer you snacks and drinks “à la russe” onboard. Next, you will stop in front of the main building of Moscow State University, one of the famous “Seven Sisters”.
To see once again that Moscow is a city of contrasts, you will go to the observation platform located in front of the Moscow City Business District.
The final stop of this part of the tour will be the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. On your way there, you will go through New Arbat Street.
From there you will return to Red Square where you will say goodbye to your driver and meet your Urban Adventures local guide. Now it is time to discover the part of the city which is hidden dozens of meters underground – the Moscow Metro! Not only is it the preferred method of transport for Muscovites, but it’s also part of the artistic and architectural heritage of this city.
You will discover three of the most impressive stations revealing Russia’s soviet past, starting from Revolution Square, known for its huge statues of soviet people. Your guide will share with you some personal stories of his/her family, giving you a deeper insight into this era.
After this fascinating adventure, you do not have to worry because the cherry on top of this tour is a tasty visit to Danilovsky Market. Try Russian delicacies such as red caviar, salty cucumbers and sauerkraut, smoked lard, cheeses from the Caucasus region and seasonal fruit. To quench your thirst, we will offer you Kvas or fruit-drinks.
Finally, you will taste some dishes from Uzbekistan and Dagestan, pilaf and chudu (scones) with cheese or pumpkin, finishing off with tea and pies.
While exploring the local market, you will also have a chance to meet vendors who are passionate about their products and will be happy to share this passion with you. You will get acquainted with the history and tradition behind the food you will taste.
